The Santa Susana Pacific Model Railroad Society is based inside a Southern Pacific class 22 depot originally built in 1903. The Depot was once the communication and transportation hub of Simi Valley. The layout boasts 530 plus feet of mainline trackage, approximately 150 of which is double-tracked mainline. The layout features six sidings strategically placed across the room, capable of holding trains between 20-40 car lengths. The layout also consists of grades pushing 2%, challenging even for the most powerful scale locomotives. The Santa Susana Pacific is fully equipped with the latest state of the art DCC (digital command control) technology from Digitrax. The layout also features a fully-functional DCC signaling system, providing engineers with accurate signal aspects while they operate their trains. Signals and turnouts can also be remotely operated by the dispatcher’s computer, serving as a gateway for realistic operation sessions.
HOURS OPEN: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (NOTE: NMRA layout bus tour scheduled to be at layout about 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Should be able to accommodate layout bus tour and LDSIG self-guided at same time.)
