Texas Northern Model Railroad Club
HO Scale
Texas Northern Model Railroad Club (TNMRC) has a 40-year history and is the largest permanent model railroad exhibit in the DFW area. The Club is located in a 4,000 sq. ft, climate-controlled space in a business park at 11999 Plano Rd. Ste #154, Dallas, TX. TNMRC features a 1,700 sq.ft. HO scale layout and a small N scale display. The Club currently has 90 members, making it one of the largest model railroad clubs in Texas. TNMRC provides 24/7 access to members and offers a discounted remote membership option for those that live over 100 miles from our location. The layout has the capability to run DC or DCC locomotives.
TNMRC has weekly Rail-Ops sessions using JMRI Operations and the layout features three main lines for continuous rail traffic with long sidings, two large yards, and several industries. The HO layout scenery is complete and features many industries including the U.S. Steel Mill, Intermodal Yard, Cargill Grain Elevator, Amtrak Station, large city, small farm, and a Frisco Railroad Museum, just to name a few. With the double mainline with long sidings and the mountain line, members can run 50-car trains!
TNMRC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Club’s long-term goal is to purchase a permanent building large enough for both layouts, a meeting room, member storage, and a railroad historical library. TNMRC is involved with the local DFW community by supporting the North Texas Food Bank, Toys for Tots, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, senior living centers, and more. The Club also hosts 3-4 public open houses throughout the year to promote the model railroading hobby to all ages.
