Lee Bangma's Chinook Southern / Poudre Valley Railroads are freelance located in southwestern Colorado. The layout is a double deck with Chinook Southern running point to point thru both decks, from Chinook yard to Frustration Flats yard while Poudre Valley is running point to point from Frustration Flats to Fairplay. The railroads are steam era with mostly wooden 36 and 40-foot cars. The scenery is mountainous.
The layout is 14' x 21'. Operating sessions require 2-3 engineers and possibly a yardmaster. Car Forwarding is by Shipit waybills - no car cards are used. The layout is controlled by an NCE system including 2 wireless throttles and 2-3 wired throttles. All turnouts are hand-thrown using Caboose Industries throws.
