Layout Design SIG Layout Tour
Because the convention is virtual this year, the LDSIG can’t host its traditional self-driving Layout Tour. Instead we have curated a list of railroads that are part of the overall Rails By The Bay layout tours that we think will be of the most interest to those interested in layout design.
There is no LDSIG polo shirt this year. Since the convention is virtual and there is no shirt, the LDSIG layout tour is free and open to all Rails By The Bay convention attendees.
The special focus of the LDSIG Layout Tour is to highlight some of the more innovative layouts being constructed in the host city and this year will be no exception. This year since you can’t visit the railroads in person we suggest that you participate in the layout tours for the railroads listed below and then take part in each day’s Meet the Owner session as part of the regular convention. It isn’t quite like looking under the layout with the host next to you to ask the question, but it will be close!
The layouts that we think you should pay special attention to for their unique design aspects are these:
- Dave Adams D&RGW Durlin Branch
- Robert Bowdidge SP Vasona Branch
- Jack Burgess Yosemite Valley Railroad
- Guy Cantwell Willoughby Line
- Jim Dias Western Pacific, 1938
